Preparing a microscope slide

Step 1: Place specimen in middle of a clean slide. Make sure it is laying flat and not folded over.

Step 2: Add 2-3 drops of stain solution. The stains used for plant cells are iodine. The stains used for animal cells are methylene blue.  They stain the nucleus of the cell.

Step 3: With your left-hand move coverslip so it's bottom edge makes contact with both the side and edge of stain solution. Use right hand to support top edge of coverslip with tweezers.

Step 4: Carefully the coverslip with tweezers. Make sure no bubbles are trapped.

Step 5: Place slide on the microscope stage. Examine it under low power magnification.

Research. drangon heart

It was set in the  10th century in England,

I think it would be a hard life for them  because they have to get food and water and learn how to fight
In the 10th century, England was a very different place from what it is today. It was covered by forest and there were a lot of Wolves who killed the goats, cows, and pigs. The human population was very small. There were perhaps one million people in England at that time. Almost all of them lived in tiny villages - many had less than 100  people Each village grew their own food and had their own animals to kill to eat. People needed only a few things from outside like salt and iron. They made their own clothes and shoes out of animal skins.
The location where Dragonheart was filmed was in Slovak Paradise National Forest.

  • What am I learning?
  • to see what time was like in the 10 century

  • How does this work show my learning?
  • it say what they killed and what they did
  • What am I wondering as a result of this learning?
  • why many days it would take them to learn how to fight

drama game to play

the Wind Blows
The Wind Blows This is a good game for mixing up cliques and a variation of fruit bowl which you already know. Put chairs in a circle. Turn one chair to face out. Choose someone to stand in the middle. They (or you) can call: “ The wind blows for……….. everyone wearing a watch everyone who supports Arsenal everyone who can swim a length everyone who had breakfast today everyone who likes ice cream etc… If the statement applies to a pupil, they must get up and change places. The caller finds a seat. The last pupil left standing, becomes the new caller. No one an change places with the person sitting next to them

Catch a Story

Catch a Story Have a ball or (better) a beanbag. Begin a story. Throw it to the person who must continue the story. This is better than dragging around the circle and shy people can get rid of the story after only one word. A variation on this is “fortunately, unfortunately”. Each person must add a sentence, changing the sentence of the main character. E.g. Unfortunately the plane’s engines failed. Fortunately the pilot had a parachute. Unfortunately, the parachute would not open. Fortunatelthereir was a haystack underneath. Etc.
